Send The Link #6
Editor’s Note: Abhi is back! Sorta. Sure, he’s starting a big fancy full-time gig in Dallas but I think he missed us too much. So he’s gonna write here and there to give the editorial side of Washed some life. This is his weekly column that I’ve enjoyed reading thus far and I think you might too. - Brett
Next Monday I will start my first full time job. Am I excited? Oh, absolutely. It has been over 3 months since I have graduated and it is time for me to get on that work grind. Sure, I’ll miss the freedom of having my own schedule. And yeah, not having to wake up before 9 am was fantastic. But, not having a weekly income sucks and I am 100% ready to get that bi-weekly bag.
However, I kind of regret not taking those 3 months to travel or just chill. I talked about it in my first ever blog post with Washed Media but I really like staying productive. I need to have a full plate and have convinced myself that’s the only way for me to grow. Hindsight is 20/20 and looking back at the summer, I really should have just let loose before I become a desk monkey.
Nevertheless, I can’t go back in time and I did enjoy my break between graduation and work. I got to work at a startup, move to a new city, and start creating a little content. And, with all these new experiences, I got to find and listen to some amazing music.
SO, here is my list for this week.
About You - Homeless Radio
Like anybody making content, you have to market yourself. I posted on different forums across the web to try and attract people to check this out. I got the attention of dude from Ukraine that sent me this, “Hello! My name is Andrew and I enjoyed your playlist! I'm writing you right after escaping from the occupied town Izyum, Ukraine. Being for three months without gas, water, electricity and Internet, I missed the release of my single! It's a light indie rock tune called About You. Check it out, perhaps you may like it and it may feature your playlist as well.” A really cool moment for me and hopefully you guys can give Andrew some love.
I Don’t Think We Should Wait - sir Was
Four words: guitar in the chorus.
Streetlights - Boxing at the Zoo
2nd verse → Hook → Chorus. Classic indie.
Day from Night - Ages and Ages
Another sunset balcony song.
Paul Newman Daytona Rolex - Brett Dennen
Hypothetically, if I ended up traveling over the summer and ended up in a beach town, this would be the song on repeat as a I biked to the water.
All I need - Kraak & Smaak
Textbook definition of a vibe.
50 Grand - Parrotfish
Daylight - Harry styles
Harry Styles’ new album is great and I am not ashamed for admitting that.
Someone told me this and I agree wholeheartedly: He needs to start a band.
Great song
Movin’ Out (Anthony Song) - Billy Joel
No explanation needed.
Swim Naked - Betcha
I am a sucker for tone shifts in songs.
Album: Nané - Nané
I know I only included three songs in the playlist, but give this whole album a listen.
