New Partnership Alert: LLS

Cancer sucks. It’s a disease that fucks with every part of life and couldn’t be gone soon enough. Everyone has a story - whether it be a family member, a friend, a coworker - that, unfortunately, too many times has a bad ending.

My dad dealt with it last year. He never let on about how much it sucked and I couldn’t be more proud of the way he got through it. Knock on wood, we’re in a better spot now but it’s impossible to be at 100% when you know someone that close to you is feeling like shit during treatment and dealing with the anxiety that comes along with a truly horrendous disease.

On a more related note to LLS (Leukemia & Lymphoma Society), my cousin got hit with a late stage Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma diagnosis a few years back. One of those moments that the entire family hears about and thinks the worst.

Then she beat it. And has since ended up in med school studying to become a doctor to fight the very illness who’s ass she kicked.

The fight against cancer is made so much easier by organizations like LLS. Their mission is simply to cure cancer and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

They’re the largest nonprofit funder of blood cancer research and have invested nearly $1.3 Billion (with a B) the most pioneering science worldwide since 1949. What’s even better about their research is that a lot of discoveries regarding treatment of one cancer has been able to be deployed across the gamut of different types, saving thousands of lives every day in the process.

They’re also the leading source of free education and support for blood cancer patients and families. This hits home BIG time because one of the things that brings caregivers and families some sort of stress relief is understanding more about each specific disease and the treatments being given.

Over the next few weeks, we’re teaming up with LLS in their Man & Woman Of The Year campaign to raise money to continue in the fight against cancer. It’s an awesome cause that obviously hits close to home for me as well as so many of you out there.

Anything you can chip in would be highly appreciated and going to an incredible organization. Every dollar not only supports research, but in & outpatient services, advocacy, community services, and public and professional education like I mentioned earlier.

Smash our link here to contribute to Washed’s campaign and hit me with your personal stories. Cannot WAIT until organizations like LLS have made cancer a thing of the past.
