THROTTLE DOWN AND LIVE FOR TOMORROW

Good for you. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, and nobody knows this better than you do. There’s a younger contingent that is mother-fucking you left and right but let them have their fun at Green Light or The Ranch.

You’re in it for the homemade margarita on the patio and some towel time by the pool (shouts to Lurch). Prime opportunity to break out a deck of cards and attempt to explain an explicitly regional game that you play with your buddies back home. Unless someone knows Uechre. If that happens, stick with Uechre guy for the rest of the weekend. He’s seen a thing or two.

It’s been a long travel day and eventually you get hungry. Sure you can order-in and continue to enjoy each other's company with some pizza, but why not get the boys around a table for some low-key A+ grub and ambiance.

If you’re in town? Fixe Southern House has the best biscuits you will ever put near your mouth. Order them for the group and get the fried chicken and porkchop. Light enough to keep you on your feet for the weekend, hearty enough to fill you up. Not to mention, KC makes a mean old fashioned behind the bar. The other low key option downtown I’ll give you is Anthem on Rainey Street. Tex-mex/Polynesian fusion if you can imagine that. The best bite of food in Austin with their miso mac & cheese balls, brisket rangoons, and tiki drinks that will light you up if you’re not careful. Don’t overthink it.

A little west of downtown with a big crib and crew? Carve American Grille is where you set up shop. Carve gives you an elevated American bar & grill vibe with a crowd that screams “I’ve seen this dude in a movie before” or “how much do you think she paid for those”. Pricey but you’re leaving impressed for sure.

Ignore the temptation brought on by a few glasses of pinot to go out and head back to the house. A lot left on the plate this weekend.

See you tomorrow:
