If you’re really trying to taste the local fare, you end up at a honky tonk with pitchers of beer and an unpretentious vibe that is uniquely Austin. Pick Donn’s Depot, which kind of feels like a Thomas Kinkade/Hallmark Christmas movie fever dream set in an old train station with live music and cougars galore. If you’re lucky enough to get Donn himself on the keys, cherish it. He doesn’t have many years left. 

If two stepping isn’t your jam, Barbarella’s DJ will keep you moving until you’re ready to call it. You won’t mistake it for the Taj Mahal, but it gets the job done and then some.
